From Gary Caldwell, Commissioner, Intercollegiate Rowing Association:

“I’m extremely excited to announce this morning an extension of our existing sponsorship partnership with Hydrow for three years and its elevation to be our presenting sponsor. Hydrow’s sponsor commitment is the largest in IRA history and will play a huge role in stabilizing our financial picture over the next three regattas.

We are fortunate that the principals at Hydrow have a rowing background, it makes our job explaining the value of the IRA easier. Bruce, Matt, and the rest of the Hydrow family get all that. They understand the value of competition, their organization is filled with former collegiate athletes who built their work habits rowing and coxing in our programs. Bruce articulates far better than I the collective opportunity we have, to do something special over the course of the next three years, and you and the rest of the greater rowing community will get to judge for yourselves how successful we’ve been.

Currently, our job is to keep the engine running. Katie, Tom, and Laura are extraordinary people, and make it easy for me. It’s up to us to provide the best student-athlete and fan experience possible, and we will continue to do our best to measure up.

Our flexibility and nimbleness as an organization has allowed us to be extremely proactive and we will continue to follow that course. We have other sponsorship opportunities in the works and look forward to reporting back to you as they come to fruition. Given the uncertainty surrounding football, and the future direction of the NCAA, this may well be to our advantage. But for today at least, this sponsor announcement is a great piece of good news and a positive start to the week!”
